The Silent Service (SILENTSRVC) is named after the nickname US citizens gave to the US Navy submarine forces during World War 2 and thereafter. In order to remain safe in enemy waters, submarines had to operate under strict silence when hostile forces were detected. Even conversation could be picked up by hydrophones aboard surface ships hunting for the sub.

This organizations draws inspiration not only from the submarine force, but also general naval warfare. The RSI Polaris corvette is analogous to modern-day destroyers like the Arleigh Burke or Oliver Hazard Perry classes. It is equipped with a large turreted gun on the bow, torpedo and missile weapon systems, a rear landing pad for utility and combat craft, missile defense systems, and is a fast, armored warship. It is the intention of this organization to put the Polaris to work.

In Star Citizen, it is possible that the Polaris is able to operate as both a real-world submarine and as a real-wrold destroyer, engaging in skirmishing and ambush attacks like a sub and in conventional warfare with support craft like a destroyer. Just as a single destroyer would not challenge an entire carrier task force, the Silent Service will utilize the Polaris and other small warships with competency, and thus, to great efficacy.

Successfully infiltrating hostile space and providing a tremendous alpha-strike on capital assets is not going to be easy. It is not going to a given. The Polaris, like any ship, can be made to be as stealthy as it is feasibly possible to do so, but it is not inherently a stealth ship. It can also act as the platform by which a smaller force is deployed. This organization is for those willing to engage in such a risky operation, those willing to practice solid tactics and strategy to achieve victory, and those willing to do so as a team.

The team required to achieve success at such an operation can only be described as elite. In order to build such an elite team, the organization will need to rely on experts to contribute where they can. Leading a team in any environment requires real skills and practice, even in a video game. To do so without losing one's temper requires even more skill and practice, and is required for a positive gaming experience. You do not need to own a Polaris or any other ship to join the org and become a leader, and owning a ship will not fast-track you to such a role.

For every individual joining the organization, a short interview will be conducted over Discord messages. Voice chat can be utilized instead, if preferred. For all applying, having a working microphone is required. The Silent Service is primarily centered around North American timezones, with some Pacific and Atlantic flexibility. Those in other timezones are still welcome to apply if your schedule lines up with the majority of everyone else's. Racism, sexism, hate speech, and other such unprofessional conduct has no place in this organization and is not welcome.

Individuals who join the organization will be able to apply for the Silent Service's "Officer Candidate School." Graduation will enable these individuals to lead a deployed team as a Captain, Executive Officer (XO), and potentially other Officer roles such as Marine and Fight Squadron Officers. While named after the real thing, it won't be so challenging; we will strive to give everyone just the fundamental knowledge they need to build up their skills through practice, with regular coaching sessions and guidance over time after graduation. You do not require real-world military or leadership experience to apply and succeed, and those with such experience will be fast-tracked and invited to participate if they would like to do so.

For those not interested in the burdens of leading a team, there will be opportunities for fun and exciting gameplay as a crew member and possibly lower-level leadership roles where you may assist with training newcomers in how to provide the roles you prefer and can speak on. This covers everything from engineering to marksmanship to logistical box-stacking.
